Biography
Ava Moore Smyth, 14, was born into a mushing family. Her grandfather ran the first Iditarod and her grandmother was one of the first women mushers to finish the Iditarod. Both my parents have competed in the Iditarod. Ava ran the Jr. Willow 100 last year. An 8th grade student at Su Valley participates in soccer, basketball, cross country skiing, and student government. She also enjoys reading and cooking. Ava plans to go to college after high school and says she doesn’t expect to continue mushing.
