Malinda Tjelta, 15, has been running dogs since 2008. She says she “read a book in reading class and got two retired lead dogs and it’s been an adventure ever since.” She is in 10th grade at Sheyenne Public School where she participates in track, FFA and Student Council. She also enjoys goat tying and reading, riding horses and rodeoing. She says she is the oldest of five kids and her whole family runs dogs. The have a kennel of 36. She plans to go to college to become an architect and says she will continue mushing.
