Biography

Katie Hayden, 15, says she started mushing at her family’s dog mushing lodge in Lake Minchumina, Alaska when she was only a baby. She grew up at the lodge where they had 60 dogs. They moved to Eagle River two years ago and brought 13 dogs with them. Katie just finished the Jr. Quest in 7th position. A freshman at Chugiak High School, Katie is an honor student and participates in soccer and Battle of the Books. She also plays the guitar and enjoys reading and spending time with friends. She hopes to continue right on to college and says she will continue mushing.
