Biography
Mariah Smyth, 17, has lived all her life in Alaska and says she has mushed all her life. Her dad and two of her brothers are Iditarod veterans. Her brother will be running in this year’s Jr. Iditarod also. An eleventh grade student at Houston High School, Mariah says she participates in sports. When asked about her hobbies, she says, “eating, sleeping and listening to vintage rock.” When she graduates, she wants to “become a new age hippie and live in Jamaica.” She doesn’t know if she’ll continue mushing.
