Hannah Wappett, 16, started mushing when she was 5. I loved animals and being outside and mushing was a perfect combination of those two things. when she mushed with her older siblings and her parents. She’s run the Jr. Willow 300 the last three years and was a rookie in the 2021 Jr. Iditarod. A 10th grader at Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Hannah participates in cross country running, soccer, raising rabbits and traveling. Almost all dogs on her team were puppies that her family has raised since birth. After high school she plans to go to college to become a veterinarian and says she expects to continue mushing.
