Makenna, 14, says she lives in Wisconsin with her mom in the winter and comes to Alaska in the summer, along with her brother, to see her dad, her step-mom and four step-siblings. She started mushing in 2016 when her parents got back into it, and she quickly became interested and has been mushing ever since. She hasn’t been in any races yet, though. She enjoys softball, FFA, hiking, crafting, playing with my animals and sleeping. When she finishes high school, she plans to go to college, get a job and buy a house. And if she can afford it, she wants to have dogs and continue mushing.
