Jace CogdillHometown: Willow, Alaska
Jace Cogdill, 14, was introduced to mushing by chance one day when he and his father approached a distant neighbor with a large tract of land, seeking to gather firewood for the winter. The neighbor allowed the family to cut the burned Sockeye Fire trees and happened to be a recreational musher with 12 dogs. Elaine invited Jace to join her to experience mushing and as the saying goes, “The rest is history,” Jace is homeschooled in the 7th grace. An outdoors type, he will choose to be outdoors over any activity. He enjoys hunting, trapping and fishing with his father and especially enjoys taking the snow machine or four wheeler out for a run. Jace and his family moved to Alaska almost 7 years ago. He has four siblings, one sister and three brothers. Before moving to Alaska, he lived in Wyoming and Idaho. All of his extended family live in Florida. Jace hasn’t decided what he will do when he graduates but knows that whatever it is, it will include time for mushing.
