Julia, 17, was born and raised in Ontario. She started mushing when she was five . She says she has always been obsessed with dogs, and mushing gives her the opportunity to work with incredible canine athletes. She has competed in the Jr. Beargrease many times and was the 2016 and 2017 Jr. Beargrease champion. Julia is a senior at Hammarskjold High School and says the majority of her time is devoted to the dogs. She is a dog trainer and actively competes in agility trials with a couple of her dogs. She says she also enjoys photography. She explains that her great great uncle had a mail dog sled team in Thunder Bay in the 1800’s and she feels so lucky to have the opportunity to run a team from her good friend, Ryan Redington. She says he’s an amazing dog man and she looks forward to running Jr. Iditarod with an amazing team. Julia plans to go to University to become a veterinarian and to continue building her kennel. She says she will most definitely continue mushing.
