Biography

Colby Spears, 15, an 9th grader at Matsu Central High School, just began mushing in 2016. He says he started mushing because “Ray and Jessica were very influential.” He finished second in the 2017 Jr. Iditarod, his first competitive race. He enjoys riding snowmachines, fishing and hunting. Colby says, “I am the youngest of three kids. I enjoy training new lead dogs. I like being active in almost all sports.” He wants to become a pilot and says he does plan to continue mushing.
