Chandler Wappett, 17, says he started mushing in 2011 “to make good memories and spend time with dogs outside.” He finished 5th in last year’s Jr. Iditarod and has run junior races in the Fairbanks area. Chandler says, “I have two brothers and one sister and we all help each other to run the dogs and take turns racing. He is a a senior at Lathrop High School where he participates in XC country runnning. XC skiing and soccer. He also enjoys sports, fishing and hunting. He plans to go to college and then medical school. He says he’ll continue mushing “for a long time.”
