Hometown: Madrid, SPAIN

Biography

Guillermo Anton, 17, is an exchange student from Spain spending this year with the Jim Lanier family in Chugiak. He says, “Right away I come here they bring me to all kind of outdoor activities, (fishing, hiking, hunting and mushing.) So I just loved it and I want to keep on doing it.” Guillermo began mushing last August because “I wanted to do something special.”

He ran the Jr. Tustumena and came in place and won the award for the best checkpoint efficiency. A junior at Steller Secondary School in Anchorage, he participates in gym hockey. He says he likes music and all outdoor sports. After high school, he wants to become a veterinarian and come back to Alaska to live and hopefully keep on mushing.
