Quinn Iten

Bib Number: 2
Hometown: Kotzebue, Alaska

Biography

Quinn Iten, 16, says he has been mushing since he was six. “The rest of my family was running dogs, so I really didn’t have a choice.” “I live 30 miles off the road system in the middle of nowhere with my mother, my father, two dog handlers, ninety sled dogs, five Icelandic horses, about a dozen chickens, a black lab and last but not least, a very fat, spoiled beagle named Lizzy.” He is home schooled through the I.D.E.A. distance education program and is the 10th grade. Through his schooling, he participates in the Battle of the Books. His other hobbies and interests are fishing, hunting, horse back riding, kayaking and downhill skiing whenever possible. He says that there will be “more school” after he finishes high school and that he may do some more mushing after a few years’ break. This will be his second Jr. Iditarod.
