Biography
Megan Hedgecoke, 17, will enter her first Jr. Iditarod this year. She began mushing when Judy and Devon Currier became her neighbors. She says she’s always been interested in mushing, so when Judy asked her if she wanted to learn with her Siberians, she began her training. She plans to run the Jr. Quest this year also as well as the TRDMA races. A junior at North Pole High School, she says she runs dogs four days a week and that dog mushing and homework take all her time so she has no time for other school activities. There are 50 dogs in the yard and she says she has gotten to know the personality of each one. This is a family affair — her dad built her sled and her mom built her sled bag. Megan enjoys camping, snow machining and fishing and has been a part of the Two Rivers Dog Mushers? Association for four years and is now on their Jr. Committee.
