Biography

Elizabeth Jayne, 17, began mushing in 2000, because “it looked fun,” she says. She lives with her family remotely in the Brooks Range where they depend on dogs for travel. Her father is a veterinarian and travels to the remote villages. Elizabeth says she often goes with her dad on veterinary calls. A tenth grader through the Galena IDEAA program, Elizabeth plays the flute and enjoys art and writing. She plans to go to college and wants to be a writer. She says she will continue mushing.
