Bristol Huffman, 14, is a ninth grader in Kotzebue. She started mushing two years ago because she liked to work and she liked dogs. She has been training with Kotzebue musher Dempsey Woods, Jr. The Jr. Iditarod will be her second race. She ran the Jr. Kobuk 440 last year. Bristol enjoys cross country, fishing, hunting, trapping kayaking, swimming and listening to music. Her dream is to own her own kennel and race the Iditarod. She plans to go to college but isn’t sure yet what she’ll study. She says she will definately continue mushing.
