Biography

Alissa Carrow, 16, lived in North Carolina most of her life. About a year after she came to Alaska she learned about mushing. Then she started e-mailing mushers to get jobs handling for them. She worked for Lance Mackey for a year and says she was hooked on mushing. She loved everything about it. She loves how the dogs are so close to wolves. They are extremely beautiful on the inside and out. She has raised most all of her dogs. Her Jr. Iditarod team is young but she knows they would do anything for her, and she says they know she’d do anything for them. She doesn’t plan on winning this race but does plan on having the time of her life with just her pack of dogs against the wilderness. This year’s Jr. Iditarod will be her first race. Alissa is a freshman at Hutch High School in Fairbanks and says mushing is the only hobby she has. She plans to go to college, become a veteinarian and build a log cabin and live with all my dogs. She she she absolutely will continue mushing.
