Biography

Ksenia (Katie) Deits, 17, came with her family to Alaska where she met Iditarod finisher, Christine Roalofs, in 2012, and was promptly introduced to the sport of dog mushing. She says Christine’s dogs are called the “City Slickers.” “I am very proud to run her dogs. I have a fun time with them.” She is a two time Jr. Iditarod veteran. Ksenia has one brother, Alex. She is a senior at Bartlett High School this year. She enjoys hiking and says she wants to become a veterinary technician. She says “yes” she plans to continue mushing.
