Elisabeth Habermann

Hometown: Soldotna, Alaska

Biography

Elisabeth Habermann, 17, started mushing about five years ago “just for fun.” She has since completed three Jr. Iditarods and two Jr. Quests. Elisabeth is home schooled in the eleventh grade. She participates in cross-country skiing and placed fourth in the state ski championships in 2003. She says she trains all her dogs by herself and supports them by working and raising 4-H lambs. She has had many of her dogs for several years. Her main leader was given to her as a two year old because her three previous owners thought she was worthless. But she has ended up being Elisabeth’s main leader the last two years and just led her to a second place finish in the Jr. Quest. She says she plans to go to college and will continue mushing.
